“I believe clarifying purpose and improving process creates space for you
to do your best work.”
I founded Big Blue Studio a year after the pandemic, when I quit my full-time job as a communications director for The Nature Conservancy to focus on caring for my son and family.
One by one, I started to take on small projects for organizations that inspired me. I helped a mindfulness nonprofit reinvent its annual report. I edited a 300-page scientific manual to guide land managers on how to protect the environment on military lands. I served as a project manager for a Hawaiʻi-based environmental nonprofit and helped them create newsletters and impact reports. I discovered niches that I loved!
My work at Big Blue is grounded in my decades of experience working as a journalist and communications professional. I’m deeply curious and caring, a great listener and a hard worker. I offer project management, writing and content and creation and ongoing communications admin to businesses and groups.
My professional career spans multiple states and U.S. territories. I worked as a reporter for the Honolulu Weekly, West Hawaiʻi Today, Hawaiʻi Fishing News, Montrose Daily Press and others. I served as communications director and manager for The Nature Conservancy and Division of Environmental Quality. I’m a regular contributor to Ka Wai Ola News, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs monthly newspaper, and a writer and project manager to various businesses and nonprofits.
